Studied graphic design, illustration and photography at the Art Institute of Boston in the age before computers. The graphic design was the standard design, typography and paste-up stuff, but my illustrator instructor worked in product design with chalk and gouache on board and that really clicked with me. Then I discovered and fell in love with Syd Mead's work and that's the feel and medium I've always tried to emulate. Over the last 10 years, I've tried to concentrate on my paintings and illustrations. I've worked digitally with Adobe, Painter, Scetchbook Pro and ArtRage still trying to capture the same feel and brush stroke that I get with gouache. Sometimes I'm happy with it sometimes not.
I specialize in all things automotive, and sci-fi. I've made my living for years doing automotive graphic design and illustration, but would love to get into futuristic concept design and paintings.
I love anything automotive and racing, F1 and sports car racing, classic race cars, aerospace, and science fiction.
Most of the sci-fi illustrations in my portfolio are ancient gouache on board, but I still like the retro design feel. The car paintings are gouache on board or Painter/Photoshop. Concept renderings are all digital.
